Purpose: Speech-language pathologists focus on diagnosis, remediation and prevention of communication problems in the areas of language, speech, voice, fluency and swallowing disorders. Audiologists focus on the prevention, identification and rehabilitation of auditory dysfunction. The Association is responsible for accreditation of agencies, certification of members and the establishment of high ethical professional standards.
