Maude Barlow is the National Chairperson of the Council of Canadians and chairs the board of Washington-based Food and Water Watch. She is a board member of the San Francisco-based International Forum on Globalization and a Councillor with the Hamburg-based World Future Council. The recipient of eleven honorary doctorates and many awards for her work for the environment and human rights., Maude is also the author of dozens of reports and 17 books, including her latest, Blue Future: Protecting Water For People And The Planet Forever.
Maude will be introduced by environmental author and journalist, Alanna Mitchell.
The annual June Callwood Lecture honours the life, work and legacy of journalist, author and social activist June Callwood (1924-2007). It provides a platform for the exploration and discussion of contemporary social justice issues.
