Stop Harper! Rally and March

December 01, 2013

The Jewish National Fund (JNF), Toronto, is “paying tribute” to Harper at their annual “Negev Gala.”
Founded in 1901 at the fifth World Zionist Congress in Basel, Switzerland, the JNF is a quasi-governmental organization. Its primary function then as now is to acquire and secure land for use by Jews only, in Palestine and what is now Israel. The JNF is not only implicated in al-Nakba (the Catastrophe) of 1948, but is a vital part of the ongoing ethnic cleansing and colonisation of historic Palestine. Painting itself as “green,” the JNF perpetrates environmental racism and degradation, and land theft.
Currently, the JNF is actively involved in the colonisation of the Naqab (Negev). Between 30,000 and 70,000 indigenous Arab Bedouin, who are citizens of Israel, will be forcibly removed from their ancestral lands and transferred into “townships.” Up to 35 Bedouin villages will be destroyed. This will be the largest mass expulsion of Palestinians since 1967.
