Media Democracy Days is organized by the Media Democracy Project, a group of people from both the academic and activist communities who are committed to democratizing the media.

Friday November 2
Plenary Session & Interactive Workshops
What: Julian Sefton-Green will kick of Friday with a plenary session on non-formal youth education. Afterwards, members of Redeye (CFRO100.5FM) will tackle Making Radio for Social Change,
representatives from rabble.ca will teach strategies for Promoting The Missing Stories &
The Cinematheque will host a workshop on Media, Revolutions and Regimes.
Where: Vancouver Public Library, Central Library (350 W. Georgia St.)
When: 12:00-5:30PM

Opening Keynote, Film Screening, and Reception:
What: A keynote address by Sunera Tobani on gender, race, and the media, and a screening of
Words of Witness- Director Mai Iskander
Where: The Djavad Mowafaghian Cinema at SFU Woodward’s GoldcorpCentre for the Arts (149 West Hastings St.)
When: Doors open at 6:00PM

Saturday November 3
Afernoon Panels & Plenary Speeches
What: Plenary session featuring Ricardo Dominguez. THe day will feature panels addressing science communication, the role of public media,surveillance, countercolonial media, labour in the communications sectors, and political marketing.
Where: Vancouver Public Library, Central Library (350 W. Georgia St.)
When: 12:00 PM - 5:30 PM

Time: Friday:12:00-5:30 PM & 6:00 -11:00 PM; Saturday 12:00-5:30 PM
