International Women’s Month Festival of Films


March 03, 2012 to March 31, 2012


This screening series features three acclaimed documentaries highlighting women's issues around the world and filmed by Canadian filmmakers. Film makers will also be on-hand to answer questions after the screening in-person or via Skype. Many documentary filmmakers tell issues-based stories, in the hopes of making a difference. But can film really effect change?
Join award-winning documentary filmmaker, Chanda Chevannes, for this lively screening and discussion focusing on grassroots environmentalism, adoption and China's one-child policy, and feminism it's past and present.Chanda Chevannes is a documentary filmmaker with The People's Picture Company, a production company based in Toronto. Chanda specializes in artistic, socially-driven documentary films.
This is an interactive program for adults and older teens. It is not suitable for children.
