REEP Workshop -- Water Softening and Conditioning Options

February 02, 2012

Waterloo Region gets the majority of its drinking water from the ground. This 'hard' mineral-rich water leaves spots on our glasses, does not allow soap to lather well, and leaves lime deposits in our coffee pots, kettles and water heaters.

Find out from the Region of Waterloo's water softener study which water softeners use the least amounts of water, energy and salt. Also, find out about salt-free water conditioning options available.

Workshop includes:
* Introduction to rain water management
* Overview of hard and soft water and the environmental impacts of softening water
* Review of water softeners available that reduce water, energy and salt use
* Review of salt-free conditioning options

This workshop is part of the RAIN program, which promotes an ecological approach to stormwater management.
This workshop is supported by: the City of Kitchener's Local Environmental Action Fund, Green Communities Canada, Ontario Power Authority, Ontario Trillium Foundation, Regional Municipality of Waterloo.
