Connexions Calendar

Ontario Environment Network - Fall Conference and Annual General Meeting

November 18, 2011 to November 20, 2011

Conference Theme: The ABC's of Community Restoration through Earth Literacy
"Dr. Seuss books recognize the need to build vocabulary in an incremental way, through single syllable words, repetition, rhyme and fun. Children can be taught, but only if they want to learn what you are trying to teach. I propose, therefore, that, if the environmental sector wants to bring the main stream back to the earth, we must build both the vocabulary that will allow people to understand what is being asked, and also engage the public in wanting to learn what it is we are teaching. We need to use social, enjoyable and measurable techniques that are accessible to everyone, understandable by everyone and possible for everyone." - Frank Smith, Toward Balance Support Network, OEN Steering Committee member
