National Summit for the Charitable and Nonprofit Sector

November 28, 2011 to November 30, 2011

The National Summit, supported by the Agora Foundation, is hosted by Imagine Canada with partners Community Foundations of Canada and United Way of Canada.
In the last year, more than a thousand of you told us what you thought was driving change in the sector and how we needed to work together to maximize our impact. It's time to take the next step and move from talking to action.
The National Summit for the Charitable and Nonprofit Sector is bringing together leaders from across sub-sectors and from across the country. We're moving on the top four priorities for action identified nationally:
* Improved conditions for the attraction and retention of paid staff
* More diversified and sustainable financing
* Better understanding of our work and our impact
* Enhanced support for the engagement of volunteers/external talent
We've also lined up an exciting roster of speakers, including:
* Governor-General David Johnston, delivering the opening address
* Prime Minister Stephen Harper has been asked to speak on the evolving relationship between the sector and the federal government (invited)
* Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi on the role of the sector in building vibrant and resilient communities
* Social commentator Allan Gregg on where we sit on the radar screens of decision-makers, the media and the public
