Small World Music Festival

September 22, 2011 to October 02, 2011

Small World Music Society is a charitable organization that presented its first event in 1997. Since then, close to 400 presentations have solidified its reputation as Toronto’s most adventurous and visionary world music concert presenter.

Small World is a celebration of cultural diversity expressed by one of the most potent tools available - music. It is based on a vision of sharing cultural experience and ultimately, building bridges between cultures through this experience. It is about discovery and 'opening ears'. In this role, the company has presented many Canadian and Toronto debuts by international performers; has given a platform to dozens of developing Canadian artists of various backgrounds; and has presented innovative, risk-taking programming that uniquely represents Canada and Toronto.

The Small World concert experience can range from international giants of traditional and contemporary world music in the city’s grandest performance spaces, to emerging local artists in intimate club settings. Supported in part by funding from three levels of government, we present roughly 50 concerts annually, with the annual Small World Music Festival being one of the highlights of Toronto’s busy fall arts calendar.
