Ecotourism in Ontario- Setting the Standards

November 11, 2010

Abstract

The Ontario Sustainable Tourism Standards Project

TOES is exploring an exciting opportunity that exists to create a pilot project at local and regional levels to demonstrate how it can improve businesses and create additional demand for certified eco-tourism opportunities.

Ontario has an amazing array of tourism product, especially in the eco/adventure tourism segment and exposing these offerings to an existing market that is actively searching for these opportunities along with a guarantee that the operations are sustainable has a significant potential.

In this presentation I will discuss recent findings of the recent Green Traveller Study 2009. Along with this I will profile the steps The Ontario Ecotourism Society is taking to move forward the Greening of Tourism in Ontario- specifically with regard to the Sustainable Tourism Standards Project.
