Project Hope: Giving more than hope to Palestinian Youth

May 17, 2016

Talk by Hakim Sabbah, Director of Project Hope

Project Hope's mission is greater than "education" as Canadians might understand it. For children in Palestine traumatized by endless military occupation, they need education that can serve as therapy, as play, something to return them to a "childhood" - however temporary. And sometimes that is enough to change a youth's personal trajectory.

Hakim Sabbah is Director of Project Hope since May 2005. As Director, Hakim has been a driving force behind the growth of Project Hope, while simultaneously experiencing the evolution of education in Palestine in the aftermath of the Second Intifada. In his talk, Hakim will discuss the level and needs of education in Palestine and Project Hope's role in improving the level of education in Palestine. Furthermore, he will address how education is affected by the occupation and the impediments the occupation imposes on international NGO's such as Project Hope. Followed by Q&A and conversation.
