Multi-Faith Peace Worship Gathering

This year's International Week for Peace will be celebrated locally at amulti-faith peace worship gathering on Sunday, September 21. This free to attend gathering will feature prominent keynote speaker Haroon Siddiqui who writes an opinion column every Thursday and Sunday in The Toronto Star. Mr. Siddiqui will speak about what he considers to be the most pressing issues in promoting peace in the world today. The agenda is very lively. Worship presenters from various faiths will welcome everyone in attendance. Mr. Siddiqui's keynote address will be
preceded by the views of a multi faith panel whose members will include Dr. Judy Deutsch of Independent Jewish Voices, Dr. Tulsi Sharma of Hindu Link and Jennifer Henry of KAIROS. Members of the audience also will have an
opportunity to share their opinions on the various issues of peace being discussed.
There shall be literature available from various faith groups and from the United Nations on peace issues. In addition, you will have the opportunity to sign a petition urging Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird to attend and participate positively in the next International Conference on the Catastrophic Humanitarian Effects of Nuclear Warfare that will be hosted by the government of Austria later this year.
