The Comeback - An Interview with John Ralston Saul

Canadian author and essayist John Ralston Saul will be discussing his latest book, The Comeback: How Aboriginals are Reclaiming Power and Influence, with interviewer Pam Palmater.

This is the inaugural event in Book(re)marks, a free public event series featuring authors of non-fiction whose works are of social, political or cultural importance. Book(re)marks is presented by IFOA: International Festival of Authors and The Couchiching Institute on Public Affairs.

John Ralston Saul is one of Canada's leading public intellectuals. Saul has received many awards, including Chile's prestigious Pablo Neruda Medal of Honour. He is International President of PEN International and has published 14 works, which have been translated into 25 languages. Saul presents The Comeback: How Aboriginals are Reclaiming Power and Influence, which presents a powerful portrait of Aboriginal life in Canada in contrast to the perceived failings often portrayed in media.

Dr. Pamela D. Palmater is a Mi'kmaw citizen and member of the Eel River Bar First Nation in northern New Brunswick. She has been a practicing lawyer for 16 years and is currently an Associate Professor and the Chair in Indigenous Governance at Ryerson University. Palmater has been studying, volunteering and working in First Nation issues for over 25 years. She has been recognized with many awards and honours for her social justice advocacy on behalf of Indigenous women and children, and most recently for her work related to murdered and missing Indigenous women.
