Popular Culture, Media & Work

April 11, 2015

The McMaster Labour Studies Certificate program is intended to meet the educational goals of those wishing to pursue lifelong learning in a supportive and worker friendly environment. Courses are developed on principles of adult education currently practiced in unions. The learning process is based on a commitment to students and respect for prior knowledge, workplace experiences and activism.

Popular Culture, Media & Work
The mass media has a profound affect on how we see and understand the world. In this course we will examine how TV, movies and magazines shape our understandings of work and labour? We will also look at the new social media to see if and how they can be used to change these popular understandings.
