Israel’s Use of Cluster Bombs is a War Crime

Letter to the Editor

Last Sunday, a 12 year old boy was killed picking olives in Lebanon as a result of cluster bombs used by the Israelis in the war last summer (Rebuilding volatile Lebanon, October 24). An average of three people a day have been killed in Lebanon since the end of the war on August 14 as a result of cluster bombs. The New-York based Human Rights Watch has confirmed the use of these weapons by Israel saying that if cluster bombs are used in an area where there are civilians, they become an indiscriminate weapon. They are clearly in violation of Geneva Conventions.

Where is the outcry against this horrific tactic and its absolute condemnation?
