Sharing the objectives, resources, and contributions of groups concerned with Third World and Development issues.

Abstract:
IDERA is a resource center for persons, publications, research materials audio/visual equipment and films pertaining to the Third World and Development issues. Their constituency resides in the province of B.C. and the Yukon Territory. The resource center is shared with Canada World Youth (CWY), Canadian University Services Overseas (CUSO), the United Nations Association (UNA) and OXFAM.
The newsletter outlines the objectives and resources of these and other groups and their contributions to community programmes. One article describes IDERA's role as animator in the "International Affairs Seminar" at the Canadian Labour Congress' annual Winter School. The seminar was designed to provide trade unionists with a basic understanding of the New International Economic Order, the role of transnational corporations and the importance of control over resources. One worker recognizing the similarity between Canadian and Third World struggles said, "like the peoples of the Third World, our history has been denied us. Only by organizing do we enter history." Another article looks at how the Dene and Inuit are being threatened by Northern development sought after by the Canadian government and corporate interests.
