Abstract: 
This new magazine is committed to "radical social/political positions - Marxism/socialism, feminism, gay liberation. The CINEACTION collective plans "responsible and stimulating critical work with a basis in clutural theory and concern with the social/political climate."

The first issue (Spring 1985) is devoted to neglected films of the 1980s. The feature article by Robin Wood, titled "80s Hollywood: Dominant Tendencies," explores the restoration of the father, the expulsion of the mother and the subordination of the wife, nuclear anxiety, and the catering of fantasy films to the male child. Future issues will be devoted to women-centred melodrama, screwball comedy, film noir and current trends in European Art film.
