Esprit Orchestra

Purpose: This exciting young orchestra, founded in 1983, is one of just a handful in the world devoted exclusively to commissioning and playing live contemporary music. Most Esprit concerts feature at least one or two Canadian premieres and often one or two world premieres. Its concerts usually are broadcast at full length by the CBC. Esprit has also been featured in five films by Rhombus Media Inc. and in CBC-TV and NFB productions.
Esprit's mission is "to serve society through the commissioning and quality performance of orchestral music that reflects today's world and to promote its appreciation by audiences and musicians alike." An important aspect of Esprit's work centres on an educational program called Toward a Living Art for high school and public school students. Sources is a proud supporter of Esprit Orchestra.
