Brief presented to the Canadian Government by the Coalition on Canadian Policy Toward Chile.

Abstract:
A brief presented to the Canadian Government by the Coalition on Canadian Policy Toward Chile - March 1976. The Coalition of Canadian Policy Toward Chile is a group of organizations, and individuals, mostly Church related, brought together by a common concern for human rights and political freedom in Chile. The brief presents details about the current situation in Chile, the destruction of human rights and democratic freedom in Chile and the economic repression of the Chilean people, and makes recommendations regarding Canadian policy toward Chile. Canadian economic relations with Chile are also discussed and recommendations made. The third section deals with the refugee situation and recommends Canadian policy. An appendix lists the principles of freedom of association cited by the International Labour Office Commission to the Chilean Government. A second appendix lists the Canadian companies and banks active in Chile since the September 1973 military coup.
