Abstract: 
The mandate of the INSTITUTE FOR DEVELOPMENT EDUCATION THROUGH THE ARTS (IDEA) is to expose Canadians to the arts of Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Latin and South America and in the process, to make Canadians aware of development issues in those areas.

In 1984 IDEA established a resource centre in its offices in Ottawa, available to the public. The Institute is interested in receiving any information on development education, as well as broadening its network of contacts with artists, artisans, performers, writers and poets from the Third World who now live in Canada.

IFDEA is a national non-governmental, non-profit charitable organization. It offers a variety of special services to the general public.
