Written to enable citizens of Edmonton to "begin to plan their own communities."

Abstract:
This book was written to enable the citizens of Edmonton to "begin to plan their own communities.." It suggests how to build a neighbourhood or community organization and then analyses the city government structures and the real estate industry of Edmonton. The authors give a practical guide of city government departments and people and how to approach them. It also examines the tactics of real estate interests in blockbusting, rezoning areas and gives a number of case studies to support and clarify the analysis. There are also included case studies of successful community efforts. It ends with a listing of community groups and important phone numbers in Edmonton. The tone of the book is critical of city and businesses interests and their lack of concern for the people of the community.
