Ethnocracy - Israel’s African Refugees

October 22, 2016

A Film by Jesse Freeston and Lia Tarachansky
Ethnocracy tells the story of African refugees in Israel during the last 10 years culminating in their deportation. It shows how the government of Israel ended African refugee migration to the country in the name of Jewish ethnocracy. Using imprisonment, deportation, and constant harassment, it encouraged the remaining refugees to self-deport to Uganda and Rwanda after striking deals with those countries. Finally, it built a massive 240 km fence that for the first time in history, cut off Africa from Asia. Followed by conversation with the Toronto-based filmmaker, reporter and activist, Lia Tarachansky.
